At Michael Jones Jeweller, we understand that Jewellery can have huge significance in one's life. We know that because of the sentimental and monetary value of these items, they must be handled with the utmost care and respect. You can be safe in the knowledge that work can be carried out in house, by our two fully trained Goldsmiths, without ever leaving the company.
RepairsWhatever your jewellery requirements, our workshop will be happy to help. We are able to carry out all repair work, cleaning, ring sizing, restoration of antique pieces and the sourcing and setting of stones.
Watch WorkshopTime governs all our lives; we rely on our timepiece in nearly all we do. Perhaps this is why we become so attached to our timepieces. When your watch stops or keeps the wrong time, you need to know it will be repaired swiftly and professionally. We have three trained horologists in a fully equipped workshop, that can carry out all repairs or servicing to maintain your watch stays in good condition. Able to work on most watches, they perform to an exacting standard. We are accredited to work on all our stocked watches including Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, Tag Heuer and other leading brands.
ServicingTo ensure timekeeping; it is prudent to service a watch approximately every three years, depending on the model. Your watch shall be stripped and cleaned and the horologist shall check all parts for signs of wear or damage. Seals will be replaced and when reassembled and precisely oiled the timepiece shall be tested for both resistance to water and timekeeping.
Cell replacementSometimes seen as a simple, under the trained hand and eye of the horologist it can be an important procedure. Care is taken in opening the watch to ensure no damage is incurred. The visible movement shall be cleaned to avoid disturbed material entering the movement. It shall also be checked for signs of damage or wear. Resealed with care to ensure it remains protected, we can then pressure test the watch to its required depths ensuring its resistance to water. We also have at our disposal analysis machines to ensure the timekeeping and cell consumption is within tolerance.
EngravingEngraving adds a personal touch to transform your gift into something truly unique.
Here at Michael Jones Jeweller we offer both hand engraving and machine engraving allowing a greater choice of styles and designs to be engraved on a wide range of items.
Wedding rings and signet rings are always a popular choice for engraving but we can also engrave watch backs and clasps, ID tags, silver trophies, photo frames, trinket boxes, hip flasks, tankards; anything that is solid metal and not plated can usually be engraved without a problem.
We engrave your own items as well as gifts bought from us. We can add to something already engraved or polish out a design and start again.
Engraving can be a name or initials, a sentiment or message. Our hand engraver can even engrave a design, picture or logo to make a gift extra special. Both traditional and modern styles are available and your own styles and designs are always welcome.
We are also able to arrange for your Mont Blanc pen to be engraved either on the cap or the lid with either initials or a name to add a personal touch to your writing instrument.
Signet rings can be engraved with a monogram or family crest in relief known as seal engraving so that the ring can be used as a wax seal. This is a very specialist craft and can take a number of weeks to complete.
Engraving can be arranged from any of our showrooms both in Northampton and Banbury. Standard engraving usually takes 10 days to 2 weeks so make sure you leave plenty of time before the gift is needed.
RefinishingYour watch may be keeping accurate time but starting to show wear and tear and the marks of everyday living.
Our onsite workshop is able to expertly refinish your watch to remove blemishes, scratches and dents to get your watch looking as good as new.
They will take the utmost care to only remove the minimal amount of metal keeping the lines and crispness intended by the manufacturer. They can then reproduce the grain or satin finishes leaving a watch looking like it did when you bought it.
Refinishing takes about a week to complete and during the process the glass, back and movement is removed so that case can be polished individually, independently from the crown and pushers. The bracelet is polished separately and polished and brushed areas are masked out to give crisp edges and uniform finish.
We are trained to refinish all major brands of watch including Rolex, Breitling and Cartier in both steel and yellow gold.

Founder of Michael Jones Jeweller, Claude Jones, began using wax in 1919 together with the Company's seal - the Lion Passant - to gift wrap his customer's jewellery and watches.
When Michael Jones, son of Claude, took over the Company from his father he continued the tradition of using the wax seal, this time in his favourite colour - Purple!
Today, we still stamp the same recognisable purple wax seal on our gift boxes after carefully wrapping them in silver coloured paper - and we promise this will never change.
