In 2022, Baume & Mercier presents two new, ultra-feminine versions of the Riviera, each in an elegant 33 mm diameter, with a “Swiss-made” self-winding movement and an interchangeable integrated steel bracelet.

The first is adorned with a pink “sun satin” dial, while the second asserts a white mother-of-pearl dial. The new palette of 33 mm ladies’ Riviera watches keeps it pared down to the essential: assertive femininity, supreme style and natural flair. The polished / satin-finished strap – featuring a reliable, robust interchangeability system for use without tools – makes it possible to change looks on a whim. Created in 1973, the Riviera watch returns this year to revive the spirit of a distinguished watchmaking era. One of the Brand’s icons, it still features the distinctive bezel and streamlined steel watchcase that have brought it such renown. Rather than a revival, the fifth generation of this legendary watch strikes the chord of an authentic renewal.

Some watches stand the test of time. The Riviera is one of those. When it was launched in 1973, Baume & Mercier chose to present a powerful, unique, different, and distinctive watch. At a time when the watchmaking industry could afford to do almost anything, the Riviera broke with traditional codes.

All Riviera or Clifton timepieces* equipped with a Baumatic manufacture movement are eligible for an additional 6-year warranty upon registration on their website.

Testing

The assembled calibers and cases are submitted to the most stringent individual tests to ensure every timepiece functions according to Baume & Mercier's specifications. The mechanical watches are tested on a machine for the movement’s accuracy and power reserve. Their function controls are also tested: setting the time, jumping date, chronograph and any other complication.

The watches then undergo thermal shock testing, which highlights any hidden flaws. Every watch made at the manufacture in Les Brenets also undergoes a number of visual and aesthetic checks. Lastly, to ensure consistent and flawless quality, each finished piece undergoes a final meticulous check before being sent to one of our approved retailers.
