This vintage style timepiece is inspired by a classic 1939 OMEGA wristwatch that housed the famous 30-T2 manual-winding small seconds calibre. The 39 mm case is crafted in stainless steel and features a vintage OMEGA logo embossed on the crown. Behind the domed sapphire crystal, the dial is made from Ag 925 silver, with blued hands and all markings transferred in dark blue. There is also a small-seconds subdial display at 6H. Presented on a brown leather strap with a vintage OMEGA logo on the buckle, the timepiece is driven by the manual winding OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8926. This sits behind a polished caseback with several engravings including, “NUMBERED EDITION”, “CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER” and “CK 859” – a historic reference to stainless steel and the shape of the case.
STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is certainly the most conventional of watchmaking materials for outer craftsmanship, and offers beauty, strength and affordability. OMEGA uses 316L stainless steel. Known for its corrosion-resistance and high lustre after polishing, this material is often the ideal choice for watches in both daily-use and high-stress situations such as diving and adventure. SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL To really appreciate the finer details of a timepiece, OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with a highly scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment. Before the machining and finishing processes take place, the sapphire crystals are produced under the Verneuil process, also called flame fusion. It involves the melting of the raw substance using oxyhydrogen flame and the crystallisation of the melted droplets to form a cylinder. Graded 9 on the Mohs-hardness scale (graded 1-10), the resulting sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof and very hard, ensuring an unhindered vision at all times.
