Bremont Argonaut Bronze Automatic Watch ARGONAUT-BRONZE

£3,495.00

The Argonaut Bronze is available with either a traditional black military dial or a naval blue ‘sargasso’ dial and houses a three-handed chronometer rated BE-92AV movement with 38 hour power reserve. Its name is inspired by Greek mythology and is synonymous with Navy history having appeared on commissioned ships for nearly 250 years. The use of bronze nods to the material’s importance in naval engineering due to its high corrosion resistance to salt water. The case is made of CuSn8 bronze, a solid solution strengthened copper alloy with 8% tin. The high tin content adds to strength, wear, and resistance to corrosion and its bronze patina will develop over time and be totally unique to the wearer meaning no two watches will look the same. In the 1940s very strict performance specifications for the original Dirty Dozen were set which included waterproofing, regulation to chronometer specification, luminous markings on the dial and a robust case construction. The Argonaut has not only been designed and engineered to meet these criteria but also to reflect the needs of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces today."

ARMED FORCES
Approved by Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Tested Beyond Endurance. Bremont is proud to partner with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) honouring Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Through this partnership, Bremont has become the sole luxury watch producer allowed to legitimately use the signs, symbols and Heraldic Badges of all three services. Incorporating the emblems of the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force, the Armed Forces Collection draws inspiration from the original ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches, a series of timepieces commissioned for the British Army during World War II when Britain’s Ministry of Defence needed watches to issue to military personnel.

REINVIGORATING THE BRITISH WATCH INDUSTRY
It is not completely unexpected to find that the world sets its time by Greenwich and not by Geneva. Whilst Geneva and Switzerland may be producing the vast majority of luxury wristwatches today, this certainly wasn’t always the case. In 1800 half of the world's watches, around 200,000 pieces a year, were produced on British shores by British watchmakers, which is an incredible statistic. Another wonderful statistic is that probably over 60-70% of the innovation in a modern day mechanical watch has come from Britain, including every major escapement design. Bremont's mission has always been to play a part in bringing back watchmaking to British shores.

HAND-BUILT IN ENGLAND
Every Bremont watch is hand-built by Bremont-trained assemblers in our Manufacturing & Technology Centre in Henley-on-Thames, the home of British watchmaking.
