Rolex played a pioneering role in the development of the first quartz wristwatches. In 1969, the Swiss watchmaker launched the Rolex Quartz, the first quartz watch offered by the brand, featuring an innovative design: the bracelet was completely integrated into the case. In 1977, Rolex introduced the Datejust Oysterquartz and  Day-Date Oysterquartz models. They incorporate quartz movements developed and manufactured by the brand.
